Gallup Sharecare

A New and Exciting Union: Gallup and Sharecare

By Jeff Arnold, CEO and Chairman

Yesterday, we released new research with Gallup ranking communities that have the best healthy eating rates in the nation, with Naples, Florida, Barnstable Town, Massachusetts, and Santa Cruz, California, topping the list. The research also explores the relationship between healthy eating and chronic disease, finding that those who ate healthy according to our study had significantly lower prevalence of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, depression and stress than those who did not eat healthy.

While that might seem obvious on the surface, it suggests something much larger: that an emphasis on healthy eating and food policies could have a measurable positive impact on lowering disease burden and healthcare costs within communities nationwide. To that end, in our report, we profiled three innovative communities — Fort Worth, Texas; Klamath Falls, Oregon; and Naples, Florida — whose leaders, health systems and hospitals, and employers are proactively working with our Blue Zones Project division to create sustainable and systemic improvements, including implementing new food policies, across their populations to improve residents’ health and well-being.

Besides fostering a community that positions their residents to live their healthiest, happiest, most productive lives, one thing that stands out to me about our Blue Zones Project sites is how the distinct parts of these communities come together to help the whole be successful. After completing 11 acquisitions in six years at Sharecare, that approach resonates with me, particularly as our company is coming together to rally around our shared vision of putting all your health in one place, through one unified Sharecare.

One meaningful example of that involves renaming our research partnership with Gallup as the Gallup-Sharecare Well-Being Index, which officially took effect this week. Previously known as the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, the Gallup-Sharecare Well-Being Index signifies a new and exciting union of the powerful insights generated by Gallup and the meaningful health engagement fostered by Sharecare to create a healthier world through knowledge, information and action.
