Sharecare receives wellness and health promotion accreditation from NCQA

Last week, we announced that Sharecare’s lifestyle and disease management interventions, which include Sharecare’s coaching programs and RealAge health risk assessment, have been accredited for three years by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). NCQA is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to assessing and reporting on the quality of a range of healthcare providers, plans, and programs.

NCQA’s WHP Accreditation comprehensively evaluates key areas of health promotion, including how wellness programs are implemented in the workplace, how services such as health coaching are provided to help eligible individuals develop skills to make healthy choices, and how sensitive health information of eligible individuals is properly safeguarded.

Sharecare was evaluated in two different categories: health appraisal and health coaching. We’re proud to say that our teams met both sets of criteria with 100% compliance during the survey period and exceeded the minimal requirements to secure NCQA three-year accreditation by a large margin. The RealAge test was evaluated against criteria to assess its scope (which covers 14 areas), review the assessment and its results as a health appraisal. Sharecare’s evidence-based lifestyle and disease management coaching programs were evaluated in five areas, which include identifying the needs of participants using criteria that resulted in targeted coaching and follow-ups.

According to NCQA Surveyors, the successful outcome of our wellness and health promotion evaluation was a result of Sharecare’s following strengths:

  • Having a dedicated and knowledgeable staff
  • Presenting detailed documentation in a clear and concise manner
  • Offering comprehensive programs which cover all risk areas according to WHP standards
  • Engaging all populations and risk areas for better involvement and outcomes in their health
  • Demonstrating good quantitative and qualitative analysis in our reporting
  • Receiving chart audit results scored at 100%, based on NCQA criteria

Earlier this year, we also received NCQA Population Health Program Accreditation for Sharecare’s population health management platform, which includes programs for coronary artery disease, heart failure, asthma, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. We are proud to be recognized again by the industry’s gold standard, and humbled to continue helping at-risk individuals improve their health outcomes through our proprietary RealAge assessment and evidence-based lifestyle and disease management coaching programs.
