At CMI Media Group and Compas Agility 2026, I joined Andrew Miller of CMI Media Group and Marc Minassian of Genentech for a conversation I’d been looking forward to: “Beyond the Search Bar: How AI Can Help Healthcare Brands See, Hear, and Empower Patients.”
Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping healthcare, and with that transformation comes both tremendous opportunity and important questions about how we harness its potential responsibly. Those questions were at the heart of the conference, where Sharecare joined pharmaceutical marketers, agency leaders and healthcare innovators for timely conversations about the future of AI and its role in healthcare.
The room was refreshingly candid. Industry leaders envisioned more personalized experiences, improving health literacy, finding new ways to engage patients and caregivers, and delivering meaningful gains in efficiency. At the same time, they were just as open about what worries them. They raised trust, accuracy, and privacy, and asked what responsible deployment looks like when people’s health is at stake.
I left convinced that our industry has moved past asking “What can AI do?” The more important question now is “How do we use AI to create experiences people can trust and that genuinely improve the healthcare journey?”
The opportunity with AI is not simply to deliver an answer faster. It’s to make complex health information more intuitive, contextual and actionable, so people feel seen and heard instead of just served a response. That’s the vision behind AskMD, Sharecare’s AI-powered health navigation experience. It’s designed to help people ask, learn, plan and act, because the goal isn’t just a better answer. It’s a better next step.
One of the most encouraging parts of our discussion was seeing how closely patient needs and industry opportunity line up. For patients and caregivers, AI can make health information easier to understand and navigate. For healthcare and pharmaceutical organizations, it opens new ways to deliver intelligent, meaningful experiences that connect people with relevant information and support. Taking part responsibly means earning a place in the patient’s journey, not assuming one.
Agility 2026 was a powerful reminder that the future of AI in healthcare won’t be defined by what the technology makes possible. It will be defined by what we choose to do with it.
At Sharecare, we’re choosing to turn that possibility into impact by helping people navigate healthcare with greater confidence and providing the healthcare ecosystem a smarter, more human way to engage.
