New Gallup-Sharecare Survey: Number of Uninsured Americans on the Rise

By Jeff Arnold, CEO and Chairman

With discussion around the Senate’s health care bill back in full swing, the quarterly uninsured update compiled by our Gallup-Sharecare Well-Being Index is playing a leading role in the national conversation around health and well-being this week.

Published on Monday, our latest uninsured report finds that the percentage of U.S. adults without health insurance grew in the second quarter of 2017 to 11.7%, up from 11.3% in the first quarter, and 10.9% in the second and third quarters of 2016, which represented a record low. Media outlets have reported on our research – from CNN to the BBC, with The Associated Press concluding that the Gallup-Sharecare Well-Being Index “serves as a kind of early indicator, publishing several months before the nimblest government surveys.”

As Sharecare continues to be an advocate for and thought leader in the transformation of health and well-being in a digital world, our Gallup-Sharecare quarterly updates on uninsured rates not only provide useful and timely information, but also underscore our commitment to utilize authentic and relevant data and insights to inform our innovation strategy and drive better health for all.
