Honoring a leadership legacy: CareFirst’s Chet Burrell

By Jeff Arnold, Chairman and CEO

June 12, 2018

Celebrating our partners’ successes is a privilege and the achievements of CareFirst CEO Chet Burrell are no exception, particularly as we reflect on his illustrious career ahead of his retirement at the end of this month.

As you may recall, in January, CareFirst announced that Sharecare would be their strategic digital partner in the company’s mission to deliver quality care and benefits while managing costs. We’re proud to support that mission by delivering innovative, consumer-driven digital health solutions that engage CareFirst members in improving their health, and ultimately lower healthcare costs and yield better outcomes across the mid-Atlantic region. As CareFirst’s top executive for more than a decade, Chet has championed such efforts to great effect, for which he earned well-deserved recognition as a recent inductee into The Baltimore Sun’s Maryland Business and Civic Hall of Fame.

Along with The Baltimore Sun, we congratulate Chet Burrell for an impactful legacy worth honoring and take great pride in being CareFirst’s partner in carrying it forward for years to come as Brian Pieninck, the company’s chief operating officer, succeeds Chet as CEO on July 1.
