New Momentum in the #SharecareMovement: Joining Forces with the State of Georgia

By Jeff Arnold, Chairman and CEO

March 30, 2018

As an Atlanta-based business, the health and well-being of Georgians couldn’t be more important to us. Based on what we know from the Gallup-Sharecare Wellbeing Index, we have some work to do: in 2017, Georgia stood below the national average for overall well-being; and between 2016 and 2017, the state slid from a #29 to #31 position among all U.S. states. We can do better.

And that’s exactly why we embarked on the #SharecareMovement with the Atlanta Hawks in late 2017: to empower Georgians to live their healthiest, happiest and most productive lives. Today, I was joined by Governor Nathan Deal, Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) Commissioner Frank W. Berry and Sharecare co-founder Dr. Mehmet Oz at our State Capitol to announce the next step in this endeavor: a partnership with the Georgia Department of Community Health to bring Sharecare’s comprehensive wellness resources to State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP) members.

SHBP provides health benefits to more than 650,000 State of Georgia employees and their families – important members of the community such as teachers and law enforcement officials. In addition to giving them the digital destination to put all their health in one place, we’re working with SHBP to encourage their members to engage in their health and empower them to make and and sustain positive behavior change across all elements of well-being.

If you’re an SHBP member, just go to bewellshbp.com to register for Sharecare, earn incentives toward better health, and get on the path to meet the healthier you. If you aren’t an SHBP member, you can still take advantage of many of the same resources and be part of the #SharecareMovement by downloading Sharecare from the App Store or Google Play.

The #SharecareMovement is a marathon, not a sprint – but we have great faith in the future of our home state and are proud of this monumental step with SHBP toward making Georgia a healthier place to live.
