Taking steps toward better health at the 10th annual Hawks Fast Break 5k

From the moment the doors opened at 6 a.m., the energy at the 10th annual Hawks Fast Break 5k presented by Sharecare was undeniable. Runners of all levels, from seasoned competitors to first-time participants and families, took the course winding through downtown. Along the way, the support from spectators, volunteers, and fellow runners created an atmosphere that was both motivating and inspiring.

At Sharecare, we believe that creating healthier communities starts with making wellness accessible, engaging, and — perhaps most importantly – fun. Events like the Fast Break 5K are a reminder that our small actions, like signing up for a run or showing up to support a friend, can have a real impact.

As the Grand Marshal of the 2026 Hawks Fast Break 5K, I had the privilege of once again standing at the starting line and looking out over a sea of runners, families, and fans, each one ready to take a step toward better health. Year after year, I’m filled with pride as this event continues to grow. This year’s race brought together nearly 1,800 participants in downtown Atlanta, transforming the area around State Farm Arena into a celebration of fitness, community, and team spirit. What started nearly a decade ago has evolved into a true Atlanta tradition that reflects the city’s passion for connection, and showing up for one another.

Of course, it wouldn’t be the Fast Break 5K without the entertainment that brings the event to life. The ATL Hawks Dancers, ATL Boom and the Flight Crew delivered the kind of high-energy experience that only the Hawks can create. Music, emcee callouts, and post-race festivities kept the celebration going well beyond the finish line.

We were also proud to once again align with partners who share that vision, helping extend the impact of the day beyond the course and into the broader community. As part of the Atlanta Track Club’s ATL Fit Fan Race Series, the Fast Break 5K connects sports fandom with fitness in a way that feels uniquely Atlanta, bringing people together not just as fans, but as active participants in their own well-being.

Reflecting on this year’s event, one thing is clear: this race is about more than crossing a finish line. It is about building momentum for healthier habits, stronger communities, and real connections across our city. Seeing this year’s event sell out and continue to grow reinforces what we have believed all along: When we make health engaging and community-driven, people show up.

I am incredibly proud of what we have built alongside the Atlanta Hawks and our partners, and I am already looking forward to what is ahead. In 2027, we will be back, bigger and stronger, and ready to keep moving Atlanta forward, one step at a time.
