Celebrating “Sharecare Day” and a year of better health in Georgia

When we became the jersey patch sponsor for the Atlanta Hawks, we wanted to be more than a symbol – we wanted to use the power of partnership and passion for sport to launch a health movement across the state. And at our second annual Sharecare Heartbeat Festival, we were proud to show the metro Atlanta community just how their happiness and well-being are the lifeblood of what we do. Together, Sharecare and the Hawks hosted this special event dedicated to health and well-being right in our backyard – bringing people together to have a great time and enjoy healthy activities like outdoor fitness and yoga, while giving free access to resources to address chronic conditions and care gaps. Together, we showed more than 2,000 Georgians and the rest of the country how we’re working to become one of the greatest places to live well and be well.

Since the inaugural festival, we saw the difference a year can make: In this short time, our well-being index measurements show that Georgia improved its national ranking from #31 in 2017 to #23 in 2018 for overall well-being. In recognition of the impact we’ve made in the community, our county government proclaimed Saturday, April 13, 2019 “Sharecare Day” across Fulton County, Georgia.

Thanks to the support of incredible leadership by the Georgia Department of Community Health and Commissioner Frank W. Berry, we have made monumental progress in just a short period of time and created a blueprint for change both in Georgia and across the world. However, we know our work is not yet done. We look forward to building on the success of the Sharecare Movement to help people live their healthiest, happiest lives, no matter where they are in their health journey.
