Our sense of health and well-being – individually and at the societal level – has come to define this time. Our relationships with it are changing. The ecosystem of organizations, innovations, and interventions are adapting in parallel. And we’re witnessing the reverberating effects of our population’s health on every aspect of life and our communities today.
Since we first hosted the Sharecare Awards in 2019, it has been a special privilege for me and my colleagues, yet this year stands apart for this reason and so many more. Each production featured across our 14 categories were efforts led against the backdrop of an enduring public health crisis that has not only strained resources unlike any other event, but also made the health content produced by our finalists even more critical to the people they reach. Like many others, I’m grateful for their perseverance and deeply moved by the inspiring stories they’ve given me the privilege of hearing and sharing with you.
I invite you to check out these stories and join the virtual celebration of these exceptional works over the next month. Follow along on Sharecare’s social channels – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram – between now and November 18 as we reveal each of our 2021 Sharecare Award winners. You’ll be in great company; helping us pay tribute to the honorees will be special guests including CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta; NBA Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins; Special Olympics chairman Tim Shriver; actress, singer, and dancer Alyson Stoner; Emmy Award-winning actor Courtney B. Vance; and a host of other friends.
I’m grateful for the support of this extended community, which includes several individuals and organizations without whom the Sharecare Awards would not be possible. We’ve been fortunate to have a group of health and media industry leaders volunteer their time this year to showcase these powerful programs by serving as our Academy of Judges. We also have the generous support of several sponsors – Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Delta Air Lines, Wellstar Health System, the Atlanta Hawks, and UNITE – each of which shares Sharecare’s values of sharing care and joining forces to make our world all together better.
Just as important to this community is you. With your support of our winners and these collective efforts to spark better health and well-being for all, I have faith that we’ll make a meaningful difference together – and that’s worth celebrating.
