Take charge of your health with challenges in 2025

Personally, I find winter the hardest season to stay motivated in my well-being journey. It’s cold. It gets dark early. Stress levels are high between work, holiday to-dos, and extra activities with my kids. Over the last few years, I’ve taken the pressure off myself to make too many new year’s resolutions, but I do love the symbolism of reflection, renewal, and hope of the dawn of a new year.

As I spent the last few weeks reflecting on 2024 and looking to 2025, I thought about what I want to bring with me into the new year (more hikes with my kids), what I want to leave behind (stressing about things I can’t control), and new goals I want to set (healthy meal prep for easy lunches).

Whether January is the right time for you to make resolutions or not, the challenges available in the Sharecare app can help support you, the everyday user, in building a new habit whenever you’re ready. We designed our challenges with human psychology and behavioral science in-mind to help give you that extra little boost of motivation.

  • Goal setting: Sharecare challenges involve clear, specific goals to provide direction and a sense of purpose.
  • Tracking progress: Tracking your progress every day—whether manually or automatically through your smartphone or a wearable device—helps you visualize your progress to boost motivation and reinforce the effort being put in.
  • Building habits: Challenges are often designed to last anywhere from two weeks to a full month or even longer to help participants form new, long-lasting healthy habits.
  • Accountability: The challenge leaderboard provides accountability so your network can help support you in achieving your goals.
  • Competition: Whether you’re engaging individually or as a team, competition can help you push yourself a little bit. Seeing others succeed can inspire a sense of camaraderie and a desire to match or exceed their achievements.
  • Rewards: Many of Sharecare’s employer clients offer their workforce rewards for participating in some challenges. And members get the reward of setting a goal and achieving it!

Sharecare also offers a variety of challenges focused on not just physical well-being, so you’re sure to find something to motivate you:

  • Physical activity challenges: Going beyond just counting steps, Sharecare’s new activity-based challenges allow participants to log minutes of any type of physical activity—from aerobics to dancing to gardening to yoga. And we also have a new automated feature that can convert physical activity to steps so you can get credit for that activity in a steps challenge even if walking or running isn’t your thing.
  • Green days: For members looking to make more holistic changes, Sharecare offers green days challenges, where the goal is to get most of your daily trackers “in the green.” So maybe one day, you don’t get a workout in, but you eat healthy and get good sleep and take your medication. It’s all about balance!
  • Mental and emotional health challenges: For those of us focused more on mental health, Sharecare offers challenges around stress, meditation, and gratitude.
  • Create your own challenge: In addition to challenges that have been set for you by your employer or health plan, you can also create your own challenge in the Sharecare app with your own personal goal and participate by yourself or invite any family or friends to compete alongside you. Just enter their email address to invite them.

As we turn the page to 2025, remember that any time is the right time to start improving our health. With the Sharecare app’s challenges, you can begin monitoring your activity and pushing yourself to the next level toward better habits whenever you’re ready.
