Sharing care, growing impact: 615,000 trees planted by our team and counting
This Earth Day, we’re celebrating measurable progress—rooted in a simple but powerful idea: when we take care of the planet, we take care of each other.
First observed on April 22, 1970, Earth Day’s significance continues to grow each year as we collectively address the impacts of climate change. The 2025 Earth Day theme, “Our Power, Our Planet,” emphasizes the importance of harnessing sustainable energy and taking proactive steps to protect the environment.
The consequences of failing to respect our planet have a measured impact on our health and well-being: pollution can cause heart disease, respiratory illness, and even some types of cancer. Moreover, sustainability can support well-being. In fact, according to Sharecare’s Community Well-Being Index, there is a strong relationship between communities’ rankings for well-being and sustainable development.
As Sharecare works to fulfill our mission to help improve care quality, drive better outcomes, and lower costs, we’ve also made strides to care for our environment in tandem by integrating our business goals with sustainability practices. To minimize waste, 80% of our medical records are delivered electronically today, and we consciously print on both sides of paper for a large percentage of the medical records we physically deliver.
But beyond cutting down on waste, we’ve supported a greener future through our reforestation efforts for nearly a decade. The average tree produces 8,333 pages of paper. And since 2016, Sharecare has sponsored the planting of two trees in place of every single tree worth of physical paper medical records processed by our Health Data Solutions team. As of the end of Q1 2025, we’re proud to report that Sharecare has helped plant approximately 615,000 trees.
This year, we’re expanding our efforts through a new partnership with Accelerated Restorative Collaborative (ARC), a nonprofit with a proven record of planting over 1 billion trees worldwide. ARC’s practices not only rebuild ecosystems but also provide steady work for the communities most impacted by deforestation.
As we celebrate the 55th annual Earth Day this year, Sharecare remains committed to actions that align with the global call-to-action, “Our Power, Our Planet.” Through meaningful partnerships and sustainable initiatives, we continue to invest in a healthier, greener future. Happy Earth Day from all of us at Sharecare.
