Sharecare Launches AskMD for Apple Watch

ATLANTA, September 2, 2015 – Sharecare, a comprehensive health and wellness engagement platform, today announced the launch of AskMD for Apple Watch, the ideal companion to the award-winning app for iPhone that helps people learn more about what might be causing their symptoms, and connect to the doctors and specialists qualified to treat them. Since launching in December 2013, in partnership with Hospital Corporation of America, AskMD has won multiple awards, including the Appy Award for Best Medical App in both 2014 and 2015. AskMD for Apple Watch is available for free on the App Store for Apple Watch.

AskMD provides just-in-time, evidence-based decision support by matching the latest clinical research against other relevant factors – like your medications and known conditions – and provides you with possible causes behind your symptoms. After completing a consultation on your iPhone, AskMD generates “For Your Visit,” a summary of your results and relevant details that you can share with your physician, or access later in AskMD for iPhone and, now, Apple Watch.

“Consumers today are responsible for more of their healthcare costs than ever before, and – in turn – demand better tools to manage their health, whether it’s the seasonal flu or coping with a chronic disease. But doing a simple search for health-related information online is often time consuming and unreliable,” said Jeff Arnold, CEO and chairman of Sharecare. “Digital health applications should empower and enrich a person’s quest for better health rather than overcomplicate their search for trusted advice, and with AskMD for Apple Watch, we are supporting new ways for people to manage their health on their own terms.”

AskMD for Apple Watch helps you find out what’s possibly causing your symptoms and gives you everything you need to better prepare for your doctor’s visit, including:

  • A date-stamped list of all your previously completed AskMD consultations;
  • Easy access to each consultation’s “For Your Visit” summary;
  • Ability to track symptoms in real-time and add notes via dictation to a consultation’s “For Your Visit” summary; and
  • “Check-in” notifications within 48 hours of reporting aches and pains to see if you’re feeling better, making note of your progress.

AskMD for Apple Watch also enables you to start a new consultation by speaking a symptom into the microphone and, via Handoff, allows you to open the pre-encounter questionnaire on iPhone.

AskMD is available for iPhone and Apple Watch on the App Store.
