Let’s Talk About Stress

By Jeff Arnold, CEO and Chairman

Even though there are just a couple of days left in April, since it’s National Stress Awareness month, I thought it was a good time to tell you about a new way I’ve been managing my stress – successfully – over the last couple of months: talking on the phone.

Yes, simply by talking on my mobile phone, I’ve reduced my stress. And very likely also improved my overall health in the process.

Recently, we launched an app to help you improve self-awareness, personal relationships, well-being and, ultimately, your overall health by analyzing what’s called “spectral-data” in the tone of your voice during phone calls. Simply talk on your smartphone as usual – and, in the background, the app identifies fractal patterns in your voice. Based on these patterns, the technology can determine your mindset and stress type – like worry or irritation. By providing real-time feedback on your stress, as well as monitoring trends over time, the Sharecare app will increase your self-awareness, triggering positive behavior change and helping to improve personal relationships, which will actually improve your health.

At the moment, the app is available only on Android smartphones through an invitation-only, crowd-sourced, adaptive trial – so, if you have an Android, we would love for you to join us. Just obtain your activation code, and then head over to Google Play to download the Sharecare app.

And if you aren’t already using an Android, stay tuned – we’re working to make it available on as many platforms and to as many people as possible, and we’ve got a lot more in store. In the meantime, take a deep breath and call your Mom (even before Mother’s Day).
