Introducing Sharecare Rx with CVS Caremark
Those of us engaged in the business of good health know that no two individuals share the same healthcare experience. Yet, no matter where your healthcare journey takes you, there are a few commonalities we all share. Whether managing an episodic event or a chronic condition, there’s no doubt that your journey has led you to the pharmacy counter at some point to manage or improve your health. Although it’s a recurring part of the individual healthcare experience, it’s often a challenging, yet critical one that can significantly affect the quality and longevity of one’s life.
Whether it’s the cost of prescription medications, safety education or convenience, these common challenges have affected many of us at some point. From my perspective, it’s important that we leverage all the tools available to us today – from consumer technologies to industry partnerships – to address them.
Today, we announced a landmark partnership with CVS Caremark, the pharmacy benefit management (PBM) business of CVS Health, to bring people with insufficient drug coverage the most affordable prices on their prescription medications with a first-of-its-kind digital pharmacy savings card. Available on the free Sharecare app, the card is available to everyone – regardless of their PBM or insurer – for use within CVS Caremark’s nationwide network of more than 68,000 pharmacies (including CVS, Walmart, Walgreens and several community pharmacies). We’re excited to bring such a valuable offering to people for whom cost may determine access to critical medications. But that’s just the beginning. In the months ahead, the Sharecare Rx program will also expand to include drug safety information, options for refill notifications and medication reminders, as well as formulary coverage and pricing information for members who access Sharecare through their employer or health plan.
By enhancing our suite of medication tools and resources with Sharecare Rx, we look forward to removing treatment barriers while bringing the holistic health experience full circle for people everywhere.
