Sharecare Announces Strategic Acquisition of QualityHealth

Atlanta, November 19, 2014 – Sharecare, a comprehensive health and wellness engagement platform, today announced the acquisition of QualityHealth, a platform for identifying patients at large scale, and activating them to take relevant health-specific actions. As one of the industry’s largest permission-based databases, QualityHealth has more than 50 million registered members and touches 100 million health consumers each month across 175 different health, wellness and therapeutic categories. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“This acquisition enables us to reach and empower more people – tens of millions more, in fact – to take control of their health and help them live their healthiest lives,” said Jeff Arnold, chairman and CEO of Sharecare. “Whether in their living room or the exam room, consumers need access to tools and technologies that enable them to understand their individual health data and engage with personalized resources to unlock their full potential each and every day.”

The acquisition of QualityHealth has the potential to more than triple Sharecare’s reach into the markets supported by its pharmaceutical and health system partners. The combination of QualityHealth’s patient activation engine with Sharecare’s best-in-class engagement platform allows the companies to pursue opportunities with other segments that demand large-scale acquisition capabilities, such as health plans and health exchanges.

QualityHealth’s Chairman and CEO Rob Rebak is joining the company as President of Consumer Solutions for Sharecare. He will continue to oversee QualityHealth, and will also lead a new centralized Sharecare team focused on consumer revenue, partnerships and member acquisition. As part of the deal, QualityHealth will retain its office in Jersey City, NJ.

“Because of our complementary consumer assets and client solutions, this merger will unquestionably drive substantial growth for the company and value for our clients, enabling us to better serve our established life science client base and expand our provider and payer clients. Most importantly, we’ll be able drive more meaningful health consumer engagement,” said Rebak. “This partnership is a great step forward in building a highly differentiated, truly world-class patient engagement company.”
