Leading Health Systems Join Sharecare to Connect Physicians with Health-Seeking Consumers

Baptist Health South Florida, Greenville Hospital System, Penn Medicine, and UNC Health Care Among Growing List of 150+ Hospitals, Healthcare Organizations, Associations Nationwide

Atlanta, GA – October 29, 2012 – In its ongoing effort to provide consumers with access to quality health information and tools to learn, take action and connect with socially enabled healthcare providers, Sharecare announced today it has added four leading health systems to its extensive client roster of medical institutions and healthcare organizations.

These partnerships allow participating physicians to share their expertise on the conditions they treat and connect with patients seeking local providers. As part of the relationship, Sharecare will provide enhanced online profiles with industry-leading functionality including integrated health assessments, clinical decision support tools and online appointment scheduling.

Sharecare is the nation’s fastest-growing health and wellness social network created by Jeff Arnold (founder of WebMD), two-time Emmy® Award-winning television host Dr. Mehmet Oz, and Oprah’s Harpo Productions. It includes the largest multi-specialty health directory online, containing more than 500,000 active healthcare professionals.

Sharecare’s social question and answer platform is designed to simplify the search for health information and providers online. More than 45 million health-related searches are made each day, and Sharecare bridges the gap between search and care by allowing practicing physicians – engaged and active in the online health conversations – to provide answers to questions that matter most to patients. As patients get answers to their questions, they also have the ability to learn more about the providers and to follow them on Sharecare. Patients can then choose to schedule an appointment, take a health assessment and gain valuable information prior to their office visit to ensure time spent with their physician is meaningful and efficient.

The new health systems that have joined Sharecare’s already impressive roster of experts as content collaborators to provide up-to-date and trusted health information include the following – each health system is linked to its unique profile page on Sharecare.com:

“Our priority is to partner with respected health systems from across the country that influence the conversation in healthcare so that the millions of consumers on Sharecare can become better-informed and empowered to make transformative changes for a healthier lifestyle,” said Rick Anderson, senior vice president of hospital markets at Sharecare. “The addition of these specific health system partners to Sharecare’s network brings important new collaborations to the site, which will ultimately enhance consumers’ relationships with local medical experts.”
