Hawks star John Collins joins Sharecare’s Shots for Heroes initiative to give a boost to Atlanta healthcare heroes and first responders

Collins, Hawks Foundation Donate Funds to Provide Immunity-Boosting Shots from Kale Me Crazy for Workers on Front Lines of COVID-19 Pandemic

ATLANTA – April 15, 2020 – Atlanta Hawks star and Sharecare ambassador John Collins and the Hawks Foundation have donated to Sharecare’s “Shots for Heroes” initiative, which is providing immunity-boosting juice shots to local healthcare workers and first responders battling COVID-19 in Atlanta. Sharecare teamed up with Kale Me Crazy to deliver two of its super juice shots – The Wellness Shot (ginger, oil of oregano, garlic extract, turmeric, cayenne, lemon) and The Painkiller (ginger, lime, turmeric, raw honey) – directly to those heroes to boost both their immune systems and their spirits. In True to Atlanta fashion, John Collins and the Hawks Foundation were compelled to support such an important initiative that gives back to the front-line workers protecting our health and well-being.

Earlier this month, Sharecare launched the online fundraiser to allow the Atlanta community and others to contribute to the program by supporting the costs of the juices and supplies. Currently, more than 600 super juice shots are being delivered daily to first responders at Emory University Hospital Midtown, Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital, Grady Memorial Hospital, Northside Hospital, WellStar Cobb Hospital, WellStar Kennestone Hospital, Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, WellStar Atlanta Medical Center and the Atlanta Police Department headquarters, with 50-100 distributed to each location. With the help of the donations from Collins and the Hawks Foundation, the initiative will expand to reach more healthcare professionals and first responders in the coming weeks, giving a boost to the larger program.

In February, John Collins became the first player in NBA history to average 25 points per game and 10 rebounds per game while making 60% of his field goals, 50% of his three-point field goals and 80% of his free throws in a month (minimum two games played). He was also the only player in the NBA to make at least five field goals in each game while shooting a .500-or-better field goal percentage for the month.

“Every day, those on the front lines are putting themselves at risk to help battle the COVID-19 pandemic,” said John Collins. “I’m honored to be partnering with Sharecare to provide immunity-boosting shots to our local Atlanta heroes and give them the support they need during this time.”

Sharecare, the official jersey patch partner of the Hawks, is the Atlanta-based digital health company that helps people manage all their health in one place. The Sharecare platform provides each person – no matter where they are in their health journey – with a comprehensive and personalized health profile where they can easily connect to the information they need to live their healthiest, happiest and most productive lives. As part of the jersey patch partnership, the Atlanta Hawks and Sharecare have co-hosted the annual Fast Break 5K and Open Practice, as well as the Sharecare Heartbeat Festival, a free, family-friendly event featuring a range of resources and activities that encourage healthy behavior including a city-wide 3vs3 basketball tournament, yoga in the park, CPR training, blood pressure screenings, and more. These events were brought to the community as part of the Sharecare Movement – the joint initiative launched by Sharecare and the Atlanta Hawks to make Georgia one of the healthiest states and Atlanta one of the healthiest cities in the country.

“In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, helping Atlantans manage their health and well-being is critical and we are forever indebted to our healthcare workers and first responders who continue to answer this call every day,” said Jeff Arnold, co-founder, chairman and CEO of Sharecare. “With support from partners like John Collins, Kale Me Crazy and the Hawks Foundation, we’re proud to rally everyone in thanking our local heroes for their dedication and service to make the Atlanta community a safer place to call ‘home.’”

“As we face unprecedented and challenging times within the local business community, it’s our privilege to serve our local hospital workers and first responders, and cheer them on while doing our part to flatten the curve at home,” said Roi Shlomo, founder and CEO of Kale Me Crazy. “We have great friends and partners in the Atlanta community like Sharecare, who have joined us in helping provide healthy options to these heroes during this crisis. This generous gift from John Collins and the Hawks Foundation will help us take a leap forward to reach more of our hometown heroes who do so much for us every day.”

As part of the initiative, Sharecare will match 100% of the donations received from the general public, up to $10,000. All funds raised go toward the cost of the shots.
