Atlanta City Council issues Sharecare Day proclamation at inaugural Sharecare Heartbeat Festival

NBA jersey patch partner and Atlanta Hawks bring 3-v-3 Basketball tournament back to the city as part of Sharecare’s first community celebration in Atlanta

ATLANTA (April 16, 2018) – During the inaugural Sharecare Heartbeat Festival in Central Park in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward, Sharecare, the digital health company that helps people manage all their health in one place, was commended by the Atlanta City Council for the company’s commitment to bettering the health of all Atlantans and Georgians. Representing Atlanta’s District 2, Councilmember Amir Farokhi presented a proclamation to the company’s co-founder and CEO Jeff Arnold, declaring Saturday, April 14, 2018, as Sharecare Day.

“Atlanta is home to some of the most ambitious and innovative companies in the world, and the Atlanta City Council is proud to praise individuals and organizations who do so much for the betterment of our city and citizenry – organizations like Sharecare,” said Councilman Farokhi. “It is my honor to present the Sharecare Day proclamation on behalf of the city in recognition of Sharecare’s efforts to make Atlanta one of the healthiest communities and Georgia one of the healthiest states in our nation.”

The Heartbeat Festival was hosted by Sharecare in partnership with the Atlanta Hawks to celebrate and rally Atlantans around the #SharecareMovement, a joint initiative the two organizations launched in 2017. In the Sharecare Day proclamation, the Atlanta City Council characterized the #SharecareMovement as “a landmark agreement that is the manifestation of a shared vision to positively impact the Atlanta community through technology, innovation, and the promotion of healthy living and fitness.”

“While Georgia ranks 31 out of 50 states in our Gallup-Sharecare Wellbeing Index, we also rank in the top 5 in the country in terms of both having leaders – like Councilman Farokhi – who make us optimistic about the future and having someone in our lives that encourages us to be healthy,” said Sharecare’s Arnold. “I am confident that, if we work together, we can improve the overall health of our communities, our city and our state. I want to thank the Atlanta City Council for declaring April 14 Sharecare Day, and the Atlanta Hawks for their incredible partnership in our collective efforts to help you live your healthiest, happiest lives.”

At the free and family-friendly Sharecare Heartbeat Festival, attendees could participate in a variety of wellness-driven activities – from free yoga and fitness classes to health screenings, cooking demonstrations and CPR trainings. Additionally, the Heartbeat Festival featured the first ever city-wide Atlanta Hawks 3-v-3 basketball tournament at the newly renovated Atlanta Hawks Courts in Central Park. More than 400 players participated in the tournament, including Hawks season ticket holders, media members, corporate partners, youth players and a “Heroes Division” comprised of police officers, educators and volunteer youth coaches. The team also brought out both current and former players including DeAndre’ Bembry, John Collins, Taurean Prince and Isaiah Taylor, as well as Hawks legends Dominique Wilkins and Kevin Willis.

“The Hawks are extremely proud to partner with Sharecare on the court and off. This is the first of what we hope will be many Heartbeat Festivals and opportunities to have a presence in neighborhoods all around the metro area to reinforce the importance of self-care and heathy lifestyle choices,” said Steve Koonin, CEO of the Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena. “Nothing could be more True to Atlanta than making a concerted effort to improve the health and wellbeing of all Atlanta’s citizens.”
